Charlottesville VA Horse Farms – The Keswick Hunt Country

March 16th, 2009

Charlottesville VA Horse Farms – The Keswick Hunt Country.  The Keswick Hunt Country is located in Albemarle County to the east of Charlottesville Virginia and centered around Keswick Virginia.  The Keswick Hunt area runs primarily along routes 231 and 22.

The best known area of the Keswick hunt country is a long stretch of continuous farmland which runs along route 22 and is boardered by the southwest mountains.  This is one of the most beautiful drives that you will find in the state of Virginia.  There is one big beautiful Virginia horse farm after another providing perfect gently rolling countryside to ride across.

If you are considering buying a Charlottesville VA horse farm, you should not miss looking at farms for sale in the Keswick community.  Due to the stewardship of the land owners many of these farms have been put in conservation easement ensuring that we will still be able to see the vista of one farm after another unbroken by developments.

The Keswick Hunt Club's kennels are located in Keswick along with their clubhouse and horseshow grounds.  The club puts on an A horseshow every May which draws some of the best show horses from across the kennels.  Hounds go out three times a week from October into MarcH.

There are currently 9 Keswick VA horse properties for sale ranging in size from 4.21 acres to 514 acres and in price from $499,000 to $18,000,000.

Charlottesville Virginia Dog Owners Helping The Community

March 12th, 2009

Charlottesville Virginia dog owners helping the community is what the CAKC Canine Challenge is all about.Police dog

The Charlottesville Albemarle Kennel Club has challenged the

Albemarle

County

community to match their grant of
$4,500 to enable the Albemarle County Police Department purchase a much needed additional
canine.  According to the police
department they need $9,000 which will cover the purchase of the police dog and
its training.  CAKC is donating $4,500
and is asking the community to also contribute $4,500.

The Charlottesville Albemarle Kennel Club has a long history
of helping the Albemarle County Police Department.  CAKC has already purchased one canine for the
police department.  In addition the club
provided funds to buy protective vests for each of the canines in the
department at that time.  Also a CAKC
grant enabled the police department to buy remote door openers, so that if an
officer was in trouble he could remotely open the door to his cruiser and allow
his canine to come to his assistance.

If you would like to make a donation to help meet this goal,
you may make your check out to “CAKC Canine Challenge” and send it to:

For more information and to keep track of the progress of
the campaign go to The Charlottesville Albemarle Kennel Club website.

CAKC is comprised of Charlottesville Virginia dog owners who are dedicated to the advancement of purebred dogs.  The members participate in many American Kennel Club sanctioned events such as obedience, agility, conformation, lure coursing, field trials and canine good citzenship.  The Charlottesville Albemarle Kennel Club also is involved in public education and training classes.  Club meetings are open to the public and are held on the second Wednesday of even months at 7:30 at the JABA (Jefferson Area Board For Aging) building on Hillsdale Rd.

CAKC is asking other Charlottesville Virginia dog owners and Albemarle County dog owners to help make the purchase of a new canine a reality for the Albemarle County Police department.
